I have a GLC43 and want to add a sub and some power to it. Is there anything special I should know before attempting this? The guy at the audio shop said it may have some type of noise cancelling capability that would make it sound strange. He also said that can be turned off. Not sure. Either way, I’m well versed at audio install but just wanted to check with you all before I get started. This factory system sucks!

I'm not sure about the noise cancelling (which some new cars come with), but I do know that MB utilizes a very complex equalization/compression algorithm with their subwoofers in order to get the most performance they can out of a small sub. Part of that EQ is dramatically reducing/compressing the lowest bass notes for which a small sub simply can't move enough air. My experience has been that adding a bigger sub to a system that does this without some sort of counter EQ will just make for very boomy, muddy bass with no real bottom end.
That being said, if you can get access to the un-EQed analogue output channels, and aftermarket amp and sub should work well.
One other caveat - MB has been adding "piped-in" engine sounds to the audio system output in some of their cars. I don't know what possessed them to make such a dumb-*** move (along with speed controlled volume). Not sure the the GLC43 has this nor not, but adding a sub to that could make for some very strange cabin noises.
