Skyfi Satellite Radio Install
I just got done installing a Skyfi sat. radio and ran into a weird problem that I hadn't seen posted before so I thought I'd mention it.
When I first hooked up the sat. radio I was getting noise (engine noise I think) and after reading posts on this forum I got a ground loop isolator from Radio Shack (part #270-054). I tested the GLI and it worked great. I put everything into the dash and then I had a high pitched hiss. I found the hiss was only on the right channel, and started taking things apart, and as soon as I moved the GLI away from the sat. radio, the hiss went away (I had the GLI mounted in the ash tray compartment right behind the sat. Radio). The sat. radio must cause interference in the GLI. I ended up mounting the GLI behind the Comand unit and now all works fine.
So the moral of the story is don't mount your GLI too close to your sat. radio.
Pete
