Questions: Component Speaker Installation in a NON-HK 2012 ML350 Bluetec
Hey everyone, I apologize if this question has been done to death...I have not found a specific answer in my searches...
I have an ML350 and recently installed this headunit: (The factory harness plugs directly into it)

I'd like to now install new component speakers. My question is regarding the crossovers.
I have the no-frills audio package. Given that it has 6.5" speakers in the door, and tweeters up-top...is there a factory crossover already in play somewhere? (On the tweeter itself maybe?)
I noticed the 2nd pair of wires are also connected to the harness of the 6.5" speaker and run-up to the tweeter, so the tweeter does not have a dedicated pair back to the HU.
My plan is to simply take the pair coming from the HU to the 6.5" and putting that to the input of the crossover, and taking the pair going from the 6.5" up to the tweeter to the tweeter output of the crossover. New wires from the woofer output of the crossover to the new 6.5"
Before I do that though, I'm trying to find out if there is already a crossover in play, like is there one soldered directly on the tweeter? I ask because of my earlier statement, that I don't see the tweeter's wire pair going back to the HU.
I'm basically wanting to confirm that this plan is okay.
I later plan to take all of the speaker wires from the HU to the speakers, clip them, splice in new wires and run them all the way back to a new amp, then new pairs back up to the speaker delivery wires behind the HU where I made the clip. (If my plan regarding the components is okay of course)
