More on Harmon Kardon
Harman International, the parent of HK, also owns Becker, JBL, Mark Levinson, and many other professional and consumer electronics companies. Harman/Becker is providing "Infotainment" systems (navigational, communications, audio/visual, and system monitoring/control) for MB, BMW, Audi, and Porsche. JBL does the same for Toyota and Mark Levinson for Lexus. Chrysler recently awarded HK the task of providing Infotainment systems for virtually their entire product line by MY 07. Harman/Becker has the order to do the same for the C class and 7xx class also by '07. Harman claims that they developed the MOST system which is now the standard setter for the automotive industry. MOST provides a standard architecture on a common bus with modular components which can be integrated into a common sound, display, and control system while reducing cost, weight, power consumption, and component duplication.
