Cool "NO CD CHANGER" error... Options
I have a 99 C230 that I just bought knowing that the deck reports no CD changer. I took it to my mechanic (Mercedes Benz International- they are the BEST) in Portland, Oregon. They hooked it up to the computer and cleared a million error codes, but to no avail...

What are my options? I know that a MB replacemnt is like "first born child" or "Deposit Soul here" and that from Ebay they are like 289 or something...but that is an ebay thing and we all know how that works (or doens't).

Since you never saw it working before --- did you check that the CD changer gets power, and the fiber ring is connected correctly?

Yes, It gets power as evidenced by the eject light illuminating and the cd cassette ejects. What is a "fiber ring".

Various M cars, 99 SLK230
I had the same problem in wife's car. Had to send the changer off to get repaired. I do not know where or how much, it was covered under warranty.
