2017 W207 E350 Convertible Command Head Unit
I recently purchased an E350 with the standard stock Command system with Navigation. After owning it for a few weeks I have begun to notice that the rear backup camera screen will display however it will be very dark and the colors are not accurate along with a line that will run across the screen. I can not replicate it however I would say about 50% of the time the screen will display correctly and the other 50% it will be very dark and impossible to see.
I have attached a screenshot of the camera when it is not displaying correctly. Although this was taken at night at the time I did not have the rear brake lights on and the screen has a red tint. You are also able to see the line I mentioned that tends to run through the screen when this issue happens. I have also included a shot from the same time when the camera was working correctly. I have searched the forum and I wonder if anyone would know the following:
Is this a hardware issue (the command screen is on its way out)?
Is this a camera issue (such as a physical issue with the camera)?
Is this a wiring issue (such as the video cable from the camera to the Command Unit)?
As this problem started over the weekend the system completely died while using the navigation to get home. I was not able to change radio stations and also the car did not know where I was although at the time I was on a major interstate that has been around for 40 + years.
That problem has not shown up again in 3 more longer drives I also did a full restart when I got home. However, the camera issue has persisted.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
