W212 2012 E550 USB stick question

Hello.....I own a 2012 E550 with (I think) an NTG 4.0 unit (yellow background display vs. white NTG 4.5 which I have in another 2013 E350). I tried using a 512GB USB stick to load a ton of MP3 music. The file structure I'm using is A-E, F-M, N-T, U-Z subdirectories, followed by albums in alphabetical order in each of these subdirectories. When the head unit scans the USB drive, it can only see subdir A-E, and only a few albums in that folder. The USB is formatted FAT32. Just trying to understand the limitations of this unit, and if there is a workaround. Does the SD card slot also have the same limitations?

And....anyone know how to play FLAC files on this unit? They are not recognized. The difference is marked between MP3s and SACDs that I play on the changer. Or do I need to bite the bullet and get one of those newfangled 10 or 12 inch Chinese units and install? Thanks for any suggestions anyone can provide!!!

Just to confirm - 512 Megabytes ("MB") USB stick? These haven't been sold for over a decade.

Then the problem is likely the 512GB stick size. Not much was made 10 years ago anticipating memory capacities this large. You might find yourself limited to 64GB. MP3 format will give you the most tracks per GB. Higher quality formats might not be worth the effort depending on the audio system's specs.
