Where is the best place to install a computer?

I'm thinking about installing a computer in the car. I've got everything needed except for the touchscreen and incar software (which probably are the most expensive thing in this whole project).

But anyways, a very important question out there is... How can I keep the computer cool? I must find a place where the A/C can reach! is there a way to divert some of the air or something?

i would check out www.mp3car.com
I already did 2 carcomputers on my friends car, thinking about doing it on mine, but probably not till a little later.
You dont really need a powerful computer to run what u need in your car, any p3 would do, and they dont get very hot. Try getting the xenarc 7" touchscreen, it will fit perfectly, just buy a deck kit and do some bondo.

hey, thanks for your post!
Well, I went shopping today for a computer... I thought I wont need some high spec computer since i'll be using it only for mp3s and maybe internet.
What about AMD? Right now I got two offers, Intel Celeron4 2.6Gh and AMD 3.2 Ghz.

It gets really hot during summer in here. And I mean REALLY hot!

anyho, I got a sound card, VGA car,TV card (which has radio in it too) and a 80 GB harddisk. Talking about radio... do I need to get some special radio card so I can listen to the radio after removing my MB drive?
too many other stuff to buy, yeah...

Though I have couple questions...
How the computer is going to get electricity? from where? how? Same thing goes for the touch screen. And how much electricity can I take from the car? Like can I install the computer and, say, external computer DVD drive? (so I can keep it in the glove comp.)

I think I need a lot of help as I've never done anything at all to any car before!!

I'll check that site now. thanks a lot

AC ? cooling ? You have the wrong solution already. For what a car can use there is no need for P4 power at all.

I am using solid state computers with no moving parts (ram drives) and no fans that only require 12V. I think your idea is good but heading down the path to headaches.

Ask yourself what the CPU is doing and work from there ......
