'05 e320 cdi diagnostics menu?

hi, i'm new.

anyway, dad just got a new 05 e320. we got the benz facotry sat radio, but i installed it. screwed it in, hooked it up, and got it all conected. problem is, the command doenst recognize it. i assume that some sort of menu has the option to "activate" it?

ive seen the mute-1-3 thing and the 5-3-7, and tried, but didnt work. is there a new one, or did i do this wrong.

what is the actual, step by step way to get in there?

thanks.

Didja reconfigure the fiber optics for the sat radio module??? If so, where did you find the connections?

I suggest you go to www.startekinfo.com. It is MBs tech website. You will need to get a minimum 24 hour subscription for $18. On the site, in the area called "Star bulletins", is a document listing step by step instructions on installing the sat receiver. My guess is that you need to take the car to the dealer and get the sat version coded with their SD computer. They will probably charge a little bit for the service since you did your own installation.

fiber optics? did see any.... all i did:

-took out all of the interior of trunk.

-whipped out the module's bracket

-found the one and only place bracket fits and screwed it in.

-mounted sat reicever on brakcet.

-found only 2 free cables near there, both of which fit the only 2 connections the module had. a round, sat antenna-style one, and a rectangular one with six pins. the cars "prewired", so i assume this is it.

i keep hearing of these fiber optic connection, and i havent one yet.

wouldnt make sense, sat radio sound quality isnt NEARLY good enough to warrant fiber.

ive been rooting around the net, and apparently, one of the diagnistics menus has sat as an option, apparently to turn it on. i tried the 5,3-7 code and the mute-1-3. didnt do squat. i may have to look into that starteek deal. i assume if i go for the $18 deal, i will be able to make a mad dash through all of the files pertaining to the w211 and download them all?

You need to add the fiber optic connection to the six pin connector you plugged in. Thats why it doesn't work. Pull the sat unit out, and you can look at the connector on the module and see where the fiber optics go. You will need specific instructions to set up the fiber optic ring, and in some cases the system still won't recognize the component until it has been programmed.
