All instrument lights lit up as I was driving

2009 E350 AWD 4D Sedan
All instrument lights lit up as I was driving

Drove about 200 miles and used cruise control. When I got to destination and parked my 2009 E350 AWD 4D Sedan, the message panel said that Cruise Control was disabled, CHECK ENGINE light came on. Several hours later headed for home and Cruise Control was working, however, CHECK ENGINE light was still on. No problems with car, stopped to eat about 50 miles from home. Got back in car about 45 minutes later, went about 10 miles and while still driving ALL THE IDIOT LIGHTS came on and the battery + - light in middle of the message center,.came on. The tach and speedometer QUIT WORKING, head lights were working and cigarette lighter was reading 14 volts on a usb insert. Made it to my house and next morning started the vehicle had the battery and alternator checked, EVERYTHING WAS WORKING, THEN ALL IDIOT LIGHT went to normal and CHECK ENGIN E LIGHT went out, The guy who checked the ERROR CODES said the main computrer lost contact with electronics?? Car has been operating for the 4 weeks since then, without any problems??? I know electrical problems are the hardest to diagnose. ANY THOUGHTS?? I expect to use car for 250 mille each way trip in early December

You say "Everything was working" but didn't state how much voltage you had from the battery and alternator with engine on and off. Less than 11.7v on the battery with engine off and less than 13.6v on the alternator will cause problems that can send all your modules into a tantrum. Its probably more than that, and I be looking at your SAM modules for deterioration. Was it raining on the day you had problems? Water ingress can do that to the SAMs. Start with checking voltages first and remove that as a potential source.

voltage was OK 14+ volts with engine running, battery tested GOOD,,off and running no rain. Thanks for reply

'99 and '05 E55 AMG
CANbus failure to the instrument cluster. A scan will show an instrument cluster communication error. The cluster apparently goes nuts and cruise control will disconnect.

The resolution in my '99 was to purchase a used cluster, then have it coded to my VIN and have the mileage adjusted to match my mileage. No issues since then.
