I have a 2003 CLK (W209). I removed the CD Changer from teh glovebox as it was trashed. All metal from the front, no tray. I unplugged two clips from the back. One was wide with two small wires, the other was small with 3 small wires. I assumed one was the music and the other was the power.
Now I can't get any sound out of the radio. It shows it is stopped on stations, but no sound.
Does the CD Changer need to be in this loop for the radio to work?
Very strange! I am going to plug the CD player back in later and see.
Any thoughts?
Thank you

Ok, I put the CD Changer back in the glove box and now the radio works again. I guess there is some amplifier function in the CD Changer. Good thing I did not throw it out!
