AUX DC Power in R230 Glove Box
Hi All,
I've moved almost exclusively to listening to MP3 or XM satellite radio via the AUX input on my 2003 SL 500 R230. Works great and almost OEM except for the power I have to run out of the glove box to the lighter.
I'd like to pipe power into the glove box. I think simply installing a DC cigar/accessory lighter right next to the AUX input will be great. Since I'm using exclusively with audio accessories, I want to power using the COMAND antenna motor power.
So, here's my short laundry list of things I want to know before I tackle this problem:
1. COMAND wire out diagram.
2. Removal instructions for Glove Box and COMAND.
I'd also appreciate any other ideas you might have.
Thanks!

Well, I have made some progress, I think. I found a COMAND installation bulletin on Paul's MB Info Website, though it's not R230 specific, I presume I have the right pinouts. Now, I just need to figure out how to disassemble the dash....

It would be a lot easier to just run power from the back of the existing cigar lighter to a new accessory outlet you put into the glovebox. You can use the standard accessory outlet with cover, as used in many other Mercedes models: A 210 820 09 51
The outlet uses a plain round cutout, with a notch for a key so the outlet won't rotate. The connectors on the back are standard 1/4" spade-style connectors.

Here's an installation I did for phone, power, remote radar dector and XM Satellite Radio in my 1998 E 320:
