Center Channel - Burmester and Bluetooth Protocols on NTG 5.5?

This is about a 2020 C63 with the Burmester system.

Does anyone know if it uses AAC for Bluetooth or is it just SBC?

Also, has anyone done just an upgrade of the center channel speaker for either Focal or Match?

That car uses SBC for Bluetooth, not AAC. It doesn't support the higher-quality codec.

For the center channel, yes, people have swapped it for a Focal or a Match speaker. It's a common and fairly simple upgrade that makes a noticeable difference in clarity. You'll need the right impedance speaker (3 ohm) and a proper adapter bracket.

I wonder what SBC bit rate it supports. Can you use a USB BT Receiver that supports AAC and stick it in the USB slot? Will that keep steering wheel controls going?

How big of an upgrade would the center channel be?

The factory system uses a basic SBC codec. A USB BT receiver won't work for audio; the car's USB port is for data only, not audio input. You'd lose steering wheel controls.

The center channel upgrade is a noticeable improvement. It makes dialogue in music and movies much clearer and more focused. It's one of the better bang-for-your-buck audio upgrades for that car.

Is a Focal ICC MBZ 100 the correct center channel for a Burmester coupe 2020?

I believe that is a 4ohm speaker and not sure what the Burmester system is in terms of ohms.

No, that's not the right match. The Focal is a 4-ohm speaker and your Burmester system is designed for 2-ohm speakers.

Mixing them can cause issues with the amplifier. You need a 2-ohm center channel for it to work properly.

So I got chatGpt to do some deep research for me. While these centers are listed as 4ohms, according to the AI it's actually effectively 2 Ohms. I have to look into if this is accurate.
