'04 E Class Comand Screen Question

Where exactly is the daylight sensor located that causes the Comand/Radio screen to switch between night colors & day colors? (W/B to B/W)

What are the little round sensors located over the "Sat" Button & the buttons on the right side?

On my Command it switches when you turn your headlights on or off...not sure if this is the same on them all or not.

On my '04 it is daylight sensitive... it changes automatically based on the ambient light, but I have my headlamp switch set on "Auto" & have never manually turned the lights on or off. Why do you?

FWIW, the sensor for COMAND is different than the sensor for the lights, at least on my car. I don't know where the sensor is located, though.

I figured it must be different. It is also more sensitive to momentary changes in light as it changes the screen illumination setting too soon after an ambient light change. Sometimes a brief shadow caused by a 4 lane overpass causes it to change from day to night & back to day in a 3 second period when the car is in motion, or when making a turn, causing a shift in the shadows inside the car.

the W211 (and other recent MB models) have the lightsensor in the black part of the windhsield behind the rear view mirror...cover it with your hands...

The sensors on the comand face itself are for 1) auto dimming of the comand screen and 2) the receiver for the IR controls...

greetingz,
