Property tax bill with a Lease?

Do any of you pay property taxes on your leased vehicle?

I have a friend who is leasing an automobile from the green E. He recieved a property tax bill from the E. This was not a state issued property tax bill. When he called to inquire about this they (the E) told him that property taxes have already been paid and they inturn add the amount to his monthly lease bill.

Since this is the the first time he leased a vehicle he is unsure what to do. I had a member of law enforcement run his license plates and his answer was: "the vehicle is lisenced to the green E."

My thoughts on this are:
If the car is leased from the E then it is still owned by the E. Why would they make him pay taxes on something they own?

Any feedback from the experts?

All taxes, sales and property, are always paid by the lessee just as if they had owned the car. This is in line with the lessee paying for their own car insurance, license fees and upkeep.

Thanks for the clarification. Suppose that the taxes are worked into the monthly lease payment?

The property tax is usually not included in the lease cap cost.

I'm not sure about how that all works, but My vehicle is registered to me. not the lease company. seems weird that it would be in some one elses name.

Yes, under a lease you are the registered driver but the lessor is the owner. The owner is responsible for the property tax but this, and all other fees associated with owning/driving the vehicle is always passed on to the lessee.
