Question Still Financially Responsible for Vehicle For Six Months After Transferring Lease?

I am in the process of putting my '17 C63 AMG on a lease transfer web site. After logging into my MBFS account, and selecting Lease Transfer, it states the following:

"As a First Class Lease holder, you may be eligible to transfer your lease to another qualified individual or business (a "Transferee"). After six months from the date of the lease, subject to eligibility and approval, you may request that a qualified Transferee assume all of your rights, interests and obligations under your current lease agreement, thereby releasing you of any remaining payments and lease end charges."

Wow, so you lease your vehicle, but MBFS still holds your financially responsible for a period of six months, until you've fully transferred the lease? If true, that is overly restrictive and means the person you "transfer" the lease could be delinquent in payments and MBFS is going to come after you. If all of this is true, there is no way I'm going to "transfer" my lease and risk having some deadbeat not make payments and leave me holding the bag.

Sounds more like you can't transfer the lease until 6 months after taking ownership.
