Mercedes all the way!
well, saw my first real-life B-class today! was in Oxford and it whizzed past - too quick for me to take a photo.
it looks really unique - i can't really say "beautiful", but the many lines reflect light in a way that no other car on the road does. the car i saw was "Alpine Rain" and in the overcast sky (as always) it really stood out from the crowd. and i like it

This is exactly what America was looking for; a car that has the looks of a Vibe/Matrix and yet costs twice as much.
You know, for those of you who want leather seats in your Matrix.

I thought I saw one in Morgan Hill, Ca. USA on Highway 101 north bound, it looked small similar to the xa. I could be wrong, it might have been the r-class.

I sure hope the Mercedes reconsiders bringing the car to the US. I think it would be a great seller.

I see dozens of those putting around every day. Not too bad, at least they're not as ugly as the R class. I know someone with a black R500, classy, but so damn fugly....

i think this is one of the cars you'd have to see in person before making a real decision on it. It does look like a larger A-klasse though.

As far as importation laws go, I believe (and I could be completely wrong about this) that any car that is road-legal in Canada may be imported into the states with minimal paperwork and none of the horrific costs associated with federalizing a euro vehicle for the US. Tens of thousands of cars in Canada are purchased every year by US residents, so if somebody really wanted a B-klasse in the US - they could get one rather easily. Service and maintenance may be problem, but not a an especially big one if you establish a relationship with a Canadian dealer who will ship you stuff.
