B class driveshaft bearing fail?

Just had MB look at an oil leak from passenger side front dr shaft, where it enters transmission. you can move the shaft up and down, they say could be dr shaft bearing or transmission bearing? £300 just to look. On 55 plate B170, 46k , anybody hear of this before. Any advice.

Found this via Google. Haven't been here since 2014, replying to a 2012 post. Lol! I hope email notifications for the poster are on!

I have an issue, where I seem to have a tranny or drivetrain noise that may be explained by a bad driveshaft support bearing.

The noise is speed dependent, in any gear, while under load or light load. Coasting or decelerating (engine braking only) the noise goes away. All this while going straight.

Did your noise appear similarly? Any others with a similar problem figure out what it was?
