W245 Wheel Scrubbing
Hey Everyone,
Ive noticed my little B200 really starts to scrub the tires when turning at near full lock. Especially in reverse! It takes extra throttle to overcome…
not sure if I badly need an alignment or if this is normal for these little animals lol.
Thanks a bunch to anyone who reads or responds!!

They’re just the stock OEM 17” wheels and tires. It would make sense though if they were oversized, good thought.
Maybe the 16” winters will be better? I’ll find out in a few months haha. I’m going to have an alignment done soon anyway, so I’ll report back if that helps.

B180 (W245), A-180 (W176) & GLC-250d (X253) <previously GL320CDI (X164)>
I have a B180 but not much issue with the tyres.
On the hand, my GLC250d used to have 255/45R20 run flat tyre (Pirelli Scorpion) which on occasions, had wheel scrubbing when near full lock.
After changing to a similar profile tyres (Falken) but not run flat, no more scrubbing.

That’s very interesting. Thanks for your reply. Since starting this thread I had an alignment done which helped reduce scrubbing.
I was still running the summer 17” wheels though, so since changing to my winter 16” with newer Micheline tyres, the issue is hardly noticeable.
I’ve heard run flat tyres can be harsher/stiffer. Maybe these cars rely on the forgiveness of a tyre sidewall…
