w246 sub installation

Hi, I have a project to install a small amp/subwoofer(all in one) cheap on amazon, to improve bass into my B250 (W246) best location will be underseat or trunk. Does someone could gave me direction where I could split rear and left speakers wires from the trunk or front under dash, so I could install a analog to digital input converter for the sub amp. I don't want to open door to split wires and get door rattle afterward.

Hi all, I received my Blaupunkt GTHS131 compact subwoofer. I’m very satisfied of the build quality and the bass is awesome. I did my installation installation my self in my garage after reading and finding all, information on my others web site. The hardest part was to find out where to find out original speakers wires for the high input into the sub amp. Finally I found speaker wires was on both side of the front side foot panel, it was quite easy to remove the plastic with my hand and two connectors was attached I just pulled them to see which one was for the speakers until the sound stop when I disconnected the plug. 4 wires was on this connector two was already twisted together and two others was for a bit bigger in size and notice was for the light door panel. I split Y with this speaker wire and route them thru my under Seat. Next step was to find out power near by and hopefully cigarette lighter was easy to access from the rear seat just pull out this panel and split Y here for my Amp remote on under my seat, I attached also I ground wire right there from the bolt who hold the center console, I just unscrew them tap a huge ground wire to amp. Now the only thing left was to route a positive wire to 12v fuse boxe just under the passenger seat, I pull the carpet and find out a huge red wire who came from the battery directly, this was bigger than expect for my 150w amp sub... why not !! Just attached a fuse holder unscrew the bolt a bit and bingo. I route all wires into the central console, except the speaker input on the side. The amp,fit perfectly under my seat I removed the plastic vent for back feet heating, «no one seat under me anyway », and the amp will be a good source of heat all in aluminum. I setup the bass to « 0» an middle to «3» and treble to max. This is going to make all doors 6.5 ” speakers more on what they can handle from the middle / high. If you have any question let me know ! enjoy pictures!!

Hi ve2jvb Thanks for sharing your work of installing the sub. I am also going to install one on my w246, may you let me know which speaker wires you tapped for the signal?

Hi, you need to tapped directly on the connector just a bit lower on the footwell. You need to remove the plastic footwell and the door sill. I tapped only driver side and split wires on the amp because you need front and left. The connectors have 4 wires 2 for the door lights and 2 for left speakers. So just put music and disconnect the connector and you know you get the right one when speaker and door light turns off. Sorry no picture of this.
