What's Your MPG?
#26
I was hoping that with the new engine, the C350 would yield better mileage.

Average over the last week for my car (still new, not fully broken in, less than 900km on it yet and most importantly still before it's first service)
250CDI
Tuesday 6.3L/100km
Wednesday 5.9L/100km
Thursday 6.3L/100km
Friday 6.1L/100km
Monday 5.8L/100km
Average "since reset" still getting lower, started at more than 7.8L/100km
Note driving to/from work figures only, so "real world" every day drive for me.
Generally speaking my perception is that it's getting lower and lower over time, weekends I tend to throw it into sports and fang it a bit more so it hardly counts!
It will be very interesting after i go through the first service though.... Even still, without it i'm better than a damn Prius!

Reason I ask is I've noticed the trip meter readings in just about every car I've ever owned are never correct.
Maybe the MB is spot on ??
I always calculate my consumption with at least 2 or 3 back to back tank fulls, taking the average of what went in and the average distance covered from each of those tank fulls and getting the consumption numbers from those

2012 C250 Coupe
Finally broke the 40mpg barrier on my 2012 C250 U.S. Spec Coupe!! I think I can probably even improve this number, as my route was partially uphill and hit a bit of traffic, and included about 4 miles of stopping at stoplights and red lights and city driving!

Cruise control is how. I've gotten up to 33 on a short highway trip on cruise control at a steady 60. But I am in NY and basically traffic and idiot drivers going 40 in a 50 zone are inevitable.

Yeah, usage of cruise control is definitely necessary to get good MPG! Also, I have noticed that putting it in "E" mode does make a difference vs "S". This is because sometimes when you are in S and traveling less than 65ish mph (not sure of the exact speed), "S" mode will hold 6th gear, where as "E" mode shifts into 7th around 60mph. I have found that the good mix of speed where you don't feel like you're going slow, and economy is about 62mph.

I've been driving mine now for 5 weeks and still only on the 3rd tank of diesel with my C250-CDI with a travelled distance of 2,700km and an average consumption so far from the 3 tanks of 6.2ltrs/100km.
I did a 40min. Hwy journey over the weekend sitting on 105km/h and consumption was down to 4.7ltrs/100km on that run![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Very happy especially considering alot of the driving over that 2,700km has been stop start City driving and spirited runs as well, also taking into account the CDI's torque output of 500nm and hauling a 1,650kg vehicle around the consumption efficiency on this vehicle is fantastic - diesel is definitely the way to go

You must realize a few things: 1) MPG is not good until after the break-in period (I've found around 2k-3k miles is when MPG improves). 2) When you test drive and drive hard, you are going to get really crappy MPG that is not very indicative of real world fuel economy.

Current mileage, 13000KM, car is about 8 months old. This car's fuel economy is almost as good as my older Toyota.

Amazing that some are able to get MPGs in the high 30s and low 40s. That's pretty cool. I drive in the city around 75% of the time and get around 22MPG.

I'm getting an indicated 35 - 36 mpg highway and >30 combined hwy & city with my 2013 C250 coupe (US 1.8L turbo motor)..
The highway driving does usually involve some traffic (and stop & go driving) as well as some long up & down hills, so on a long flat & no traffic drive the car can probably do even better. And I usually have the air con. on, I use cruise control on the highway when I can, and I only occasionally drive the car in S mode.

On shorter highway trips I usually get into the 7-7.2 liters per 100K (roughly 40 MPG). This includes about 10 - 15 minutes of traffic at the start and end. On longer trips I've seen it as low as 6.7.
I usually drive 110-125 on the highway and recently got 1,000 kms on a tankfull on a vacation trip to Maine.
Can't complain about the mileage at all.
BTW, 2012 C250 Coupe with approx 50,000 kms on the Odometer.

My usual commute is 15 minutes local plus 15 minutes highway. Give it a couple minutes to warmup. Average about 26-27MPG at 40MPH average. Mobil or Exxon premium only. Tire PSI cold is at 37/41 rating at startup.
