the manual is a bunch of malarchy - these new cars today you can drive em like you stole em straight from the factory.

I agree, there is even a fairly large group of believers that you can only get proper seals in the valves with occasional WOT and varying RPM. But enjoy your fun time now. Put it in S mode!

agreed, most of these new cars are actually broken in from the factory. unless it's an AMG, there is really no need to do the 1000 mile deal.

Resetting the adaptive transmission?

It is actually E or S or M.

I have been primarily in E. It takes a bit more encouragement to get things up to speed. S mode makes the throttle more touchy, holds gears longer and always starts in first gear. Definitely noticeable.

M is full manual. Takes some getting used to!

Does anyone know if you can reset the adaptive transmissions? It is always starting from "0" and learning from scratch or does it remember your style each time you start the car? The manual tells you NOTHING about that.

Good question. I know in my Audi, you can reset the throttle body when you want, but the car "remembered" your drive style. But if you find the car is lazy, you can reset and "train" it again.

C350 does not have M mode, you can get into manual whether in E or S by moving the shifter left/right or downshifting with the paddles on the wheel.

As for me, I would say I am about 50/50 on S and E. Sometimes I just forget to change it to S...lol

didn't floor mine till 2000km

Now at 9k km, i don't floor or use Sport mode until my engine is warmed up to at least 80 degrees C. Once it is at that temperature though, sport mode all the way

The C350 with Advanced Agility DOES have M mode. It is a dedicated button where the normal E/S button is. With Advanced Agility you get a dedicated M button and dedicated S button.

I always break a car in the way I plant to drive it.

I have never had an issue with a car when I have done that and I keep a car for quite some time.

Correct, but that is not standard equipment, and a feature that I doubt most C204 coupes have in the U.S. Otherwise it is just E/S mode.

I almost always use S mode, although sometimes, I do use E mode if going on long highway trips.

I believe that 2013 models will feature the E/S/M modes standard.

As far as resetting the "learning function". Yes, you can do that, it is detailed in the w204 thread. I don't recall the process off the top of my head. Something like:
1) Put the key in the on position not start (Not sure if this is position 1 or 2).
2) Depress accelerator fully and hold for at least 5 seconds.
3) Turn key to the off position but DON'T remove the key, and release the accelerator pedal
4) Wait at least two minutes for TCU to reset (don't remove key or start).
