dust-free 'akebono ceramic' brake pads for the c250 coupe...?

can anyone confirm the part numbers for the euro ceramic 'akebono' pads front & rear?

has anyone added them to their c250?

are the pads shared with any other c class to cross reference?

thanks in advance!

andrew e coupe 05-15-2012 11:20 PM

... and are the c350 pads the same as the c250 front & rear for the coupe & sedan?

Interesting topic, I wouldn't mind a set of high performance low dust residue brakes pads for my vehicles :)

Did a brief research run on their main site and it appears they don't have them for our current 2012 C Class.

They only list W203 and S203 C Class sedan and wagon - 2005 onwards.

Unless there's other info maybe they've yet to make them for the W204 / C204 :nix:

When I have time, I'll make a call to the Aust. and N.Z supplier to confirm :)

Akebono EUR 1340 and 1341 are the proper part numbers for a W204 C300. I've had them on my sedan for over a year with outstanding results. I do not know if the same part numbers apply to the coupe, or other powertrain variants, such as the C250.

Interesting those numbers are not listed on the Aust. / N.Z site.

I'll confirm what we (Aust.) can get when I get the chance to contact them :)

I'm sure they'll have those on inventory from Europe or elsewhere, just need to find out if and what suites our C250's also with and without the AMG package option if that makes any differences at all.

andrew e coupe 05-16-2012 11:50 PM

I will contact my friend who is the Mercedes parts manager to see if he can cross reference some mb part numbers regarding pads.

jctevere 05-17-2012 04:43 AM

There definitely are Akebono brakes for the W204 C300 and C350. I know that the C350 uses a different size brake pad for one (front or rear, not sure) but the other is the same.

The C250 brakes look about the same as the C300 brake pads, but you won't know for sure until someone tries to fit them on. I actually have a set of akebono brake pads up on my shelf in the garage, front and back. Maybe i'll check it out.

~ i have confirmed the fronts are different part numbers from the C250 to the C350... perhaps the rears are the same?

Once you confirm the proper part numbers, FYI, I've bought sets for four of our cars on Amazon. I believe they ship internationally....

~ update... :y

i have confirmed via mb... the rear brake pads are the same part number for the C250 & C350 coupe.

i will be ordering the rear akebono ceramic pads (for many now say the rears produce more dust than the front)... and await a part number or development of the front pads.

andrew e coupe 05-17-2012 12:00 PM

~ these are the akebono ceramic rear brake pads i ordered for the c coupe:

REAR
EURO ULTRA PREMIUM CERAMIC PAD
EUR1341
Disc Brake Pad

Includes electronic wear sensor.

according to my search... the best pricing can be found here:

So there are 2 brake sensors for both rear brake? Let us know how it response comparing with the oem brake pad. Thanks.

Lots of experience on the W204 sedan side...good initial bite, very solid feel, no noise, and best of all, essentially no dust. I've not had to use wheel cleaner since putting in Akebono EUR pads...just regular washing along with the rest of the car. (different cloth, of course!)

~ should only have one sensor per axle (looks like a cut & paste pic) ... i will most likely simply re-use the oem sensor as normal.

Good find!!! I hate the way the rear brakes dust so easily. I hate having to wipe my wheels off after each drive.

I will definitely get a set soon.

jctevere 05-17-2012 06:18 PM

Yeah, all three models use the same rear brake pad, C250, C350 and C300. If I am not mistaken, I also think that only the C350 has a different (bigger) front brake pad. That means that the C250 and C300 should be the same... Once I get home I will look at the other Akebono part number I have for the pads on my old C300 sedan.

Also, there is only on brake wear sensor for the front and back respectively (meaning two total).

You can re-use the brake pad sensors if they have not been worn or triggered yet. However, if you run into any problems, its probably best to just get an extra sensor or two as they are relatively cheap ~$5-$10.

andrew e coupe 06-01-2012 10:07 AM

~ i found front ceramic pads as well C250... (only supplier)...

i just ordered them.

Looks like I be buying these for my new E400 coupe as well. Great dust free pads.

AV1 03-29-2015 10:57 PM

Hey Andrew talk about reviving an old thread :)

You now have an E400 coupe - Congrats !!! :y

My next move will be one of the new upcoming C205 C63S AMG coupe :)

On the subject of the Akebono pads, I've been running them on my C204 for the last year and can only say all good about them - definitely better than original OEM overall and virtually dust free.

I would recommend them to anybody :)

Very, very nice Andrew !!!

Congrats and well done once again, enjoy the ongoing Merc experience their cars are just getting better and better :)

Was all set on a very long term ownership of my C204 but after seeing the end result of the new W205 AMG's which are so much better than the 204 series AMG's I can't wait to see what the new C205 AMG's have to offer, if they're going to be as good as rumoured and certainly what they're shaping up to so far I don't think I'll be able to resist the urge to update sooner rather than later.

Look forward to more pics of your E400 - paste a link for us if it's located in the E Class forum section :)

First off, not cool posting pics of your e coupe under thread meant for the C Class! Why?.....I'll tell ya why, It makes it extremely hard for members such as myself to ever look at their C204 and still love it as much. Suddenly extra debt seems acceptable....Lol! Your car is absolutely gorgeous, we obviously have great taste considering we have identical C204's.....anyways, I do have a reason for my post, did you go with Eibachs again on the e class?

~ I had to go with Vogtland lowering springs for they were the only company producing a set for the awd version. I must say they are perfect and seem identical performance and ride wise to eibach and h&r sport springs.

some updated pics of the e with the staggered 19"...

Loving it so far...

Added some subtle mods of course... full clear bra, lowering springs, 50% window tint on all windows, debadged, 19" wheels, painted grill gloss black, etc...

Put a set on immediately if not sooner! They are awesome brakes with almost NO brake dust. Ive had the fronts on my 08 W204 since last summer July 2016 and the response was incredible, so I went with the rear as well, it feels like a completely different car. You will have to learn to re-adjust your brake pedal pressure as the amount youre used to applying will make you and your passengers pitch forward somewhat in the seats. All things equal, lighter, gentler pressure will stop the car from what you got used to. This doesnt stop over time so Ive kinda ruled out that it was simply from having more pad material. I concur with the findings and experience of fellow listers AV1 and Sportstick, they are really good brakes with little to no dust, wash the car, and a quick and I mean quick wipedown and your wheels look like new.
