2015 C300
Launch tips

my co-worker wanted to race me today in his 2003 IS300, which is a 3litre inline 6 w/ more HP but less torque than my C250.

I kept up to him but he kept the lead the whole way (about 1/4mile). So now i'm thinking I could've done better if I knew more about my car and how to launch it and use the turbo effectively.
I wanted to reach out to you guys and see what tips you can offer. I'm just curious - not planning on racing people for pinks or anything in my 1.8litre.

What's the best way to launch the car from a dead stop and go through the 7 gears?

I dont have a tune or CAI installed yet.

best way is to call the cop before you start and let him take off, when the cop pull him over you can drive by slowly and win....I bought a luxury car to drive...this is not a race car...just because you have turbo you think you're F&F? lol be safe don't race

2015 C300
Not about F&F but just knowing wat the car is capable of..I don't speed or race. Have had the car for 8mnths and never raced another car till now..but getting spanked by an old is300 just got me thinking about this that's all. End of the day I go home with a Benz ..but there's a reason guys r installing tunes, intakes, exhausts, downpipes etc. To have fun with ur ride but also kno wats it's capable of..and that's what I'm looking for here

Press the brake pedal hard, floor the accelerator, wait about 1 sec then let go of the brake pedal. Jctevere does this in one of his videos

Face it. Your car has a sewing machine engine. The only thing you will ever beat with that is a moped.
Besides the IS300 has you outclassed.

Yep +1 on the techniques above.
Traction off, S mode, Brake to the floor, Gas to about 2,000 RPM, Let go of brake and floor the gas. A tune will definitely help with that turbo motor.

Apart from the comments above, I would first examine the capabilities of the car you went up against...

In a nutshell, if it has a superior power to weight ratio then given all other things are equal you won't win anyway.

If power to weight is strongly on your side, then you have a better chance with a better launch.

Happy and 'safe' motoring

That video was done 100% stock, so no exhaust, tune or intake. Here is a video I just uploaded of some revs with the new quad exhaust setup (since everyone has been asking about the sound):

Sounds tough! When u do your drive by can u do some in cabin aswell?

This is my first auto so not sure about exhausts and the dreaded drone. Even though you say there is no drone it must be noticeably louder in the cabin right?
