Tire pressure sensor for extra rim?

Hello all, I just leased a 2013 C250 sport plus. Picking it up on Friday. However, I live in NY and need to drive it in winters. I am thinking of purchasing a winter wheel/tire setup from tirerack.com. But the tire pressure monitor for the setup costs extra $250. Do I really need them? I can live with the warning dash light if I don't absolutely need them.

C350 Coupe
I think that is up to you. It wont prevent a flat. The most they do in my opinion is help from driving on a flat and damaging your rim. I drove for 20 years without them but again it is up to you.

Another round of ICE
Agree that TPMS is helpful, but not required. It would let you know of a slow leak before it becomes painfully obvious.

BTW, hope you're choosing your winter tires well! Go right past the so-called "performance winter" tires, which excel at neither, and look at their studless winter, such as Blizzak WS70 (1st) or Michelin X-Ice (2nd)
