I have a 4th generation Ipod Photo. I loaded it up with a whole lot of music. When I plug it in to the provided IPod connector cable, it acts like it does when connected to my PC except that the command unit does not recognize the Ipod.
Is the Ipod too old or do I need to use the Ipod USB cable and port?
Mike
PS The car is the 2013 C250 Coupe.

After searching for the command manual online, I find out that only
iPod® mini
iPod® nano
iPod® classic
iPod® touch
are supported. I'm SOL. Looks like I'll have to find another way to drag music to my car. Maybe a memory stick with lots of storage. Oh the joys of pulling music from itunes and putting it on a memory stick. Probably have to sync the pod via tunes and then copy to the memory stick. Maybe there is another music program that can sync with a memory stick.
What was so magical with the ipod photo that MB doesn't support it? Age of the software?
Looks like the pod is now becoming a glorified paperweight...I mean a portable hard drive for storing files.
I'm going to pick up a SanDisk Cruzer Fit USB flash 32GB drive since the size is perfect for the tight space of the arm rest. Can I simply copy the ipod's music folders over f00, f01, f02... or do I just copy all the files to the root of the usb stick? I have over 3000 songs and want some way of keeping things somewhat organized. I again read the manual and find that only up to 1000 songs are supported on UBS device. looks like I may have to think about getting an Ipod classic. By the way is there a song limit on ipods?

Wow! I guess the difference is that I don't have the Multimedia package. I have used a 20gb ClickWheel, 60gb iPod Photo, and a 160gb Classic without issues. I prefer the Classis because it is faster accessing data, but the others still work.
