Extended Warranty Confusion
HI All,
New here and love the information I've read so far - Great forum and group of people!
I’ve searched and read about the extended warranty and I still have 20 days left before the 15% up-charge and I’m still confused – So any help would be appreciated!
I just bought my first 2013 250 Sport that was CPO with 8k miles and a dealer loaner in great shape! Of course they tried up-sell me on the warranty but they but were pretty much honest in saying they have about 1k profit built into the cost so they’d know off $750 from the asking (Which I don’t actually recall what it was).
Where I’m confused even more now is – With the promo they just ran for CPO's – for 2013’s you get 1 year added warranty on the car with unlimited miles. (Not like this makes much difference as I work from home and might put on 5 or 6k a year if I’m lucky).
So as it stand right now I have 4years 4 months warranty left – If I understand right, an extended warranty starts after the factory ends – which to me means I’m either throwing away that extra year they gave me or paying for it. Also since extended warranties are also based on mileage and the CPO 1 year additional is unlimited mileage – Are I kind of screwing myself?
