Talking Auto Boot release issue? Common?

Greetings all.. Newb from the UK here.

Only really lurked up to now. Thought i'd say hey and jump straight in with a question.

Loving my new Coupe however finding that the boot release/assisted open can be quite temperamental?

It unlocks and then very slowly opens up. However if it rains (i assume the excess weight of the water) it unlocks, opens about an inch and then stays put.

Is there something that can be adjusted to make the spring open mech stronger? Is this common?

THANKS IN ADVANCE and sorry for coming straight on board with a plea for help!

Welcome!

I don't know that it's an "issue" per se... Mine does that too. Mostly only opens a tiny bit wet or dry (I'd rather it stay shut in the rain anyways). Every once in awhile it'll open all the way, but depends on how the car is sitting.

There's also the weight of the spoiler (lip). Honestly I think it's just the way it's designed, but I could be wrong

There are two springs and you can adjust the opening tension by repositioning the end of the springs into different holes to make the trunk lid open with more spring. The unlock only releases the lock portion

I kind of like it the way it is ie. just unlocks and opens up without swinging wide open, this will prevent any occaision whereby it may open fully and hit something accidentally, if you've also tensioned up the springs then that will only make the damage if it hits something worse - just my opinion though
