key programming
If rekeying a late model Merc was a simple "look in the manual" thing to do, I'd sell mine tomorrow.
Long story short, MB cars have a specific number of available "slots" for keys. My previous car, the C300, had a total of 8. You can request keys until you hit that number; after that they force you to account for the others (I think typically via the dealership asking you to hand over at least one) before they'll issue another. With mine, they took my old faulty key, which was an old-style (all black and plastic) key, and replaced it with a current style one.
Unfortunately, I think you're screwed. Please do call your dealership and/or MB Customer Care to verify though.
My advice? In the future get your keys from either your authorized MB dealer or directly from MB itself.
