If I understand you correctly, you are looking for a way to enable the COMAND system to allow viewing of a DVD in motion and entry of a navigation destination while driving.

There are two ways this can be accomplished. The first way is through a hardwired system:

I have not tried either of these methods, but I have researched them online and IMO the software update is the way to go.
