So I recently purchased a 2013 C350 coupe. While I absolutely love this car, I want to know if anyone else has this nose occur on start up. It's intermittent in is occurrence and usually on a cold start. It sounds metallic and almost like a misaligned chain or fan blade like somethings is off balance. It's a sort of ticking, but fades when put in gear or when the engines come to temperature. I will try to post a video.

your questions are exactly what is happening to my car. 83k miles and there is a delay in starting or lag or struggle to start when hot. cold starts are of mostly but i do see white smoke from time to time.

any thoughts or advice would be great.

 

It was the timing chain and supports for the timing chain that were cuasing the problem. All were changed and the problem is gone.
