Back Bumper Repaint $792!?

Hey Guys,

My 2017 Mercedes C300 Coupe (Blue metallic) has some scratches on the back bumper.

I could not stand every time I see that, so I used some compounds with microfiber towel to rub and ****.. they got worse. A lot worse..... I know.. it was a mistake.

so Today I brought my car to the nearest body/paint shop to get estimated during lunch time. They gave me $792 just for repainting the back bumper...

They told me they will have to take the back bumper out because of the sensors on the back bumper and stuffs.

If I don't take the bumper out and repaint it, it will be $492. But they suggested I should take the bumper out just to be safe.

so Labor charge for taking bumper out will be $304.. I live in NorCal, SanJose. What do you guys think ? Is this number reasonable? or are they trying to rip me off?

The estimate sounds reasonable. Figure about 30 minutes to remove, time to make any repairs to scratches if they are deep, labor to prep and paint, as well as reinstalling the bumper cover. When they repaint the bumper cover, they will add a flex agent to the paint to allow the paint to flex without cracking, since it is a flexible surface. I need to get my rear bumper cover repainted as well.
