W204 C250 Engine Rattle Sound
Hello mates, I am new to the forum. I have been recently facing a long startup and rattle sound during crank in my 2012 c250 coupe. The check engine light popped up and after diagnosis, P034062 code appeared and the mechanic confirmed that it is a timing chain issue. The mechanic also added that the intake camshaft adjuster only might need to be replaced without the exhaust camshaft adjuster and timing chain, but he can ensure while taking off the cylinder head cover.
His expectation is based on that I only driven the car for nearly 30 Km after the issue appeared and other components might be saved.
Also, in Lebanese spareparts market, I only found chinese camshaft adjusters as the OEM will need from 3 to 4 weeks lead time and they are about 5 times more expensive than the chinese brands.
Has anyone replaced only the intake camshaft? Do you suggest that? Has anyone replaced chinese assembled camshaft adjuster and are they durable, reliable, can survive for long.

Hello, I did replaced my both Intake and Exhaust Camshaft adjuster with the after market, even though is only the intake that has issues and it still sound ok getting to a year now. considering you have to replace tensioner each time you loose the camshaft adjuster, it is better to replace both.
