Smile rims + tires for winter

Hi guys,

currently running the following setup on summer tires :

front 225/45 R 17
rear 245/40 R 17

I am a bit confused to be honest as to what
dimensions of RIM is should get I.e. for width 7, 7.5, 8 ?

I have found some pretty ones at RONALS for example 7.5x17/ET45 and they say they are both front and rear . The manual is a bit confusing as well.

Also now for tires should I be using larger in the back ? I saw on a blog that this is discouraged for winter. Which dimensions do you suggest ?

I live in Europe in a place where it does not normally snow but I might want to travel to places that there is snow on the mountains.

Maybe noob questions but I just bought the car last year.

Thanks,
Stavros
