C250 CGI 1.8L Custom Exhaust

Has anyone got any useful information on putting a custom exhaust on a 1.8L C204 C250? It's hard to find much about the models exhaust system that doesn't include quad exhaust tips. I'd like to make a Y=pipe set up like the C350 and all I can find is doom and gloom.

Does anyone have any information on whether modifying the exhaust causes issues with things like torque and back pressure? I've seen old threads saying such things but I'm certain removing mufflers increase flow and ability rather than limiting it, but old 2012-14 very popular posts say different. The issue with the posts is that Google would rather show the click-bait than every post and when you type in muffler Google throws up muffler turbo deletes which isn't what I want.

Any information would be really great as I'd like to consider a Y-pipe setup with muffler delete, but just want to make sure I'm not damaging the vehicle.

Just did a custom exhaust on my 2014 c250 and oh my does it sound good. Basically it's a custom cat back. I removed everything after the cat. Put in a resonator then split into a Y pipe from there each side got a magnaflow muffler with single 4 inch tips at the end. I used the c350 defuser since I didn't want to go crazy with the C63 look at the back and quad tips. Definitely reduced the back pressure and gave it a little of a deeper tone. The upshift now sound so good at the red line you can hear a stomp like in the Audi. Only issue I got is some droning around 3k RPM but in my opinion it's completely worth the noises that she makes now

Awesome thanks for the update on that. I’d looked quite a lot to find a responsible answer from somewhere and couldn’t find anything other than doom and gloom which made no sense. I think I’ll look to do it this summer then. In a perfect world I’d love an update in a few months after you’ve lived with it for a while. Has it done anything to the acceleration at all? Does it improve or cause more bogging?

so far I haven't noticed much difference in acceleration. I know for a fact the ECU needs a couple days to adjust to tje change to see any gains. Same thing happened to me when I changed my intercooler and piping. I saw a drop to 12-14 psi in boost pressure and slower acceleration until the ecu adjusted within about 5 to 6 days. Same thing here. So far I noticed that in 4th gear the car hold red line for longer time. Also my boost pressure now tops to 20psi instead 18. Also boost kicks in a little bit later but much stronger. Used to be around 2.5k rpm now it's 3. I'll keep you updated on any changes.

Also I wouldn't recommend a muffler delete. Rather a replacement. The straight pipe catback will be really drony. I tried to replicate what Armytrix has on their set up with 2 mufflers and a resonator before the Y pipe. Just don't have the valvatronic cutouts

So couple weeks have passed and the droning has completely gone. A must thing to do after an exhaust upgrade is a TCU reset. That way the car can relearn the throttle response and adjust it accordingly. A lot of people mentioned the loss of mpg after the exhaust upgrade. Well let me tell you that a catless downpipe has solved that issue and I'm back to cruising on highway at 80mph with 25 to 30 mpg. And oh my does she sound amazing now
