Hello,

Ive been noticing recently that my w204 (106K km) c250 coupe has been having some issue with long crank mostly on cold start and sometimes on warm starts as well.

Additionally, what's more concerning is that after the long crank starts, there is a noticeable rattle for a couple seconds that sounds like a Diesel engine that goes away after the first few seconds
Ive attached a YouTube like to the starts - the diesel-like rattle starts immediately after the car turns on and ends right before the seatbelt beeping starts

Is this an issue with the timing chain/chain tensioner/ and/or camshaft adjusters? if so, what is the estimated costs for such repairs?
If anyone else has any ideas of what may be going on, id greatly appreciate your advice and suggestions.

if you are smart you wont wait for your girlfriend to help-----if its wrist pins you have major issues and run to any dealer for their diagnosis then run to your corner hack and get the job done maybe

If you suspect your C250 to have a long crank and rattle. Stop sturning the engine on! Get it to the garage immediately and have them check the position of the crank and see if there's any stretching on your timing chain.

If the car sounds like a diesel it's really important not to drive it until you've had this checked out. It's the difference between $2000 and $7000!

The long crank on a warm start is normal for the C250. I spent a lot of money and had a friend buy one to work that out.
