MERCEDES-BENZ C 200 AMG LINE
Thumbs down C200 Temperature

Hi I have a C200 AMG Line 2L petrol coupe. The temp gauge show above the "middle" all of the time, by about 1 or 2 segments.

My pervious cars (not MB) it would sit bang in the middle. Middle used to be 90 degrees though. Middle in my MB is 80 degrees.

Its on of these digital gauges (2017 model) so not a normal dial.

Is this a problem, considering it's November and I live in Scotland so its about 10 degrees here on a good day. I have just bought the car.

The electric fan is kicking in, and coolant level is fine.

TIA

Hi @Happydundee and welcome to the club! Above middle is normal on mine and from other posts I have read, you have nothing to worry about.

C204 2011
Hi, to my knowledge, OEM thermostat is calibrated for 103 degrees on these cars. It’s high but the engine is designed for. I heard some people change the thermostat for a 90 degrees, because they have trust issues, but I don’t. I did the coolant + thermostat service last year on my c204 C350 2011, due to a permanent low and variable temp condition (never above 80). I bought a Wahler brand thermostat to do the job. Wahler provide the OEM thermostat to MB, so it was the absolutely same part, made in Germany, but without the MB part number printed. Perfect, highly recommanded! Now the dial indicate always ~100 when hot, stable as a rock. Its more than middle of the dial… but normal and designed for.
