M276 Timing Chain Tensioner Mistake
M276 Timing Chain Tensioner Mistake
Hi,
I'm doing the timing chain tensioner replacement and check valve installation on my M276 but I've made an error. I'm doing the driver and passenger sides, and I rotated the engine to the 40 degree mark on the crank pulley. The passenger side tensioner installs fine but the pin the driver's side tensioner pushes on was still under tension when I removed the tensioner. I didn't check the marks on the camshaft adjusters so I'm just at the 40 degree mark of...something.
My question is how do I fix it? I can install the passenger side tensioner fine but can't get the driver's side tensioner in. Can I continue to rotate the engine to the correct position or will I lose my timing doing so? Thanks for the advice.

I'm assuming you figured this out already but I think the following:
Bank 1 is at TDC overlap. Bank 2 is supposed to be at TDC ignition (360 degrees rotation of crank). I think you have to hold tension on the chain and rotate clockwise until 360 degrees. Then install.
