Problem shifting to park from drive/neutral
So I have a 2013 C250 that gets stuck in the drive/neutral position after shifting out of park. When I initially started experiencing this issue it happened occasionally and was resolved by popping the cover off by the shifter and depressing the yellow release switch. As time went on it progressively got worse, evolving to the point where depressing the yellow safety switch no longer allowed the car to shift into park. After applying the emergency brake and letting the car sit running in my driveway for varied amounts of time, the shifter would eventually advance beyond neutral into the park position. The most frustrating part beyond not being able to shift my car appropriately is without shifting into park — THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN THE CAR OFF—
Upon doing some research, I found a common problem to be related to the stoplight safety switch underneath of the dash.. — I replaced this component AND IT DIDN’T FIX THE ISSUE.
I’m fairly new here, but hopefully someone can lead me in the right direction or better yet provide me with detailed instructions to resolve this issue 🩵 THANK YOU!
