Question Convertible Top Protection?

I bought a new '17 C63 AMG Cabriolet last week, and am wondering about making the soft top water repellent. Someone in a Miami MB group recommended a product called Nano Ceramic Protect. It seems a very expensive product, and I'm wondering how it compares with other convertible top protection products, such as RaggTopp, 303, and others.

I have a feeling we're alone in here with convertibles. I'm interested to know the answer to your question as well...

I guess you have better chance to find the answers to your questions on a (car) detailing site. In the Netherlands we have the 'carclean' forum. Unfortunately I don't know a leading International or US detailing site.

This is my first convertible and I just wanted to know how to protect the cloth top. I'm sure there is nothing unique about the MB cover, so a local detailer would probably provide the best answer.

I am not sure if water proofing the soft top is a good idea. I recently power washed it at a wash station and it handled the soap and water. My black top came out super clean. It can really absorb a lot of water but seems to dry quickly as I was able to open the roof up after drying off the car. A water repellent would probably alter the flexibility of the fabric enough that you might see creases or show the rib supporting structure below. I did ask my dealership about such products but was told they were unnecessary.
The good thing is I am sure if you use a product the effects both positive or negative are not permanent.

There is a product called RaggTopp that was actually tested and endorsed by Haartz which is a leading manufacture of convertible top fabric. They sell a cleaner and spray on protectant that works great. I haven't used it yet on my new C63 but used it for 3 years on a 911and I thought it worked great. Hope this helps!

I've never used Nano, but have used RaggTopp and 303. I started with RaggTopp, and it worked fine, but was a little more time consuming to apply, so I quickly switched to 303. Applied in the spring each year and the top on my '05 CLK was like new when I traded it yesterday for the new '17 C cab. Plan on using 303 on the C also.
