After lease, looking at an Audi A5...comments?
Have about a year left on my lease and I've started thinking about which car i will get next. I like rear wheel drive cars. I've had two new BMWs (2002/325 and 2005/Z4) just prior to the C300 coupe. While the BMWs were great drives and the C300 not as much while "good enough," it certainly is a more luxurious drive than the BMWs were...I do like it a lot. Never had an Audi and have been looking at the 2018 or 2019 A5 coupe (Premium+ model, 2L turbo) as a replacement when the C300's lease is up.
I drove the A5 Premium+ (with sport bucket seats...a must) yesterday. Not to go into real specifics as I really didn't put the car to any tests, but my overall take away was:
1. To my eyes, the Audi was a nice looking car, but certainly not as impressively sleek as the C300.
2. Although a differently "styled" interior than that of the C300, the A5's interior certainly was 1st class...as to be expected from Audi
3. Bells and whistles were there
4. I drove in Comfort with Sport steering and I drove in total Sport. The car was a comfortable drive and had enough acceleration for me, although I must say that road bumps were "bumpy." Furthermore, I felt that the C300 definitely gave a better "feel for where the car was on the road" than did the A5. Nonetheless, the A5 is a fine car and it is an acceptable replacement.
Now after having said all that, I'd be interested in hearing from present C300 coupe owners who would like comment further on the A5. BTW, I'm still a bit away from ending my C300 lease, so I'm in no rush for a new car at the moment...just trying to line up the ducks.

I'm not a coupe owner and I've never owned a coupe. The closest I've come is a 3 door VW Golf VR6. But what I wanted to write is you do know that the Audi A5 is fwd and not rwd which is what you're used to and like???

Quite agree that the C300 coupe looks a lot sleeker and sportier than the A5; and, its interior is classier. These definitely were some of the reasons that I got the C300 coupe. However, as I had posted, I never had an Audi before and the A5 really isn't all that "bad."

You are quite right about the A5 not being a rear wheel drive. However, as a quattro drive, 60% of the power goes to the rear wheels in normal driving. But, when the car senses it needs more traction, it will automatically redistribute the just where the wheel drive goes. The ride may be different than that of a rear wheel drive, but I don't think it will make any big difference to me.
