Need help quick with this DIY - Cabin Filter

It always happens to me whenever I do a DIY (as much of the B2 service I can do - oil/filter change and put in new dust filters; brake fluid flush to be done by my indy)...even a simple 10 minute job like replacing the interior cabin filter. You guys in the know will laugh at me when I tell what my problem is: I can't figure out how to unhook the cables. BTW, is it a must to also pull back the carpeting? I was able to pull the panel down without doing so. I will most appreciate a quick response as I've got bits and pieces in the passenger side footwell and would like to get on and finish the project as soon as possible. Here are two pictures of what needs to be unhooked and thanks.

This is on left front of dropped panel

This is on the right side of the panel. There isa bulb in the housing.

Solution to plug removal

Thanks to ItalianJoe1: It just pulls out of the air temp sensor. It will require some force, but it comes out. You can also turn the sensor and unclip it from the panel and leave it loose while changing the filter, then re-install in reverse.
