Hi all - I ordered a 2020 C43 cabriolet back in May and was told by my dealer that it would be delivered in late August. Unfortunately, it didn't ship from Germany until sometime in September, and has spent the last month and a half sitting in a lot somewhere in New Jersey. We've been told by our dealer that ALL 2020 Mercedes vehicles built in Germany are being held there while a) the US government does something to check them in, and b) Mercedes calculates residual rates on 2020 vehicles. The latter is extra frustrating because until they figure the final numbers out we can't pick our term and mileage limits for our lease and finalize the deal.

Is this normal (e.g. happens every year)? And, are other people who ordered 2020 vehicles that are built in Germany (e.g. C-Class coupes and cabriolets) experiencing the same thing?

Just a heads up that I leased '20 C300 Cab in September '19. It was a lease from dealer inventory, not ordered. That may be different than what you described as a customer order, but just wanted to bring awareness that there are 2020 Cabs that have been imported.

 

Our 2020 E 450 cab was delivered to us on August 22nd so your dealer is dead wrong.

 

From what I'm reading in other posts, it looks like just the AMG vehicles are being held in VPC. The good news is that many dealers are informing customers that the C63s have been released. I'm hoping that also applies to the C43s.

 

UPDATE: My dealer confirmed that the C63/E63 models have been released, but not the C43.

The 2020 C43s have been released from VPC and I took delivery last night. It’s worth the wait!
