Rear bumper cover removal

I wanted to remove the rear bumper cover on my 2017 C300 Cabriolet. Got a YouTube video on a similar model and disassemble 99% of the what is needed, but got stuck on 2 attachments that show in the video as removal from inside the trunk similar to the 2 nuts inside the center rear panel, but could not find the outboard nuts. I could see where it was attached, but there are no nuts as the video describes inside the trunk. What is holding the cover and where can you access the nuts?

Help Needed

Does anyone have a resource they can reference here on removing a 17 C300 Cabriolet rear bumper? The references for a sedan are apparently not applicable due to the difference in the taillights and trunk interior.

Would you have one of these illustrations for a 17 C300 Cabriolet?

Under the category of thanks for nothing, I now can post that I figured out the tail light (3 - 8mm nuts) must be removed which reveals 3 tabs that hold the bumper in place. By wedging these tabs out the bumper is freed up. Because this is the cabriolet it is a different procedure than the W205 sedan which has a YouTube video in that the video does not show the tabs or the taillight removal.

Hi Roxman!

I'm a C200 Cabrio owner and I want to install bliss sensors.

To do that I have to remove rear bumper. Please, can you tell me the video url that you found?

Thanks and kind regards!

Hi Pepelolo38
Here is the video
BTW the connection I couldn’t find was the tail light nuts (3 as I recall) these had to be removed on my C300 cab, which is not shown on the Youtube video.
This is a tricky job as the nuts are deeply recessed into the housing and dropping one will result in a trip to parts for new ones. In addition, you will need an extra-long socket extension (10 -12”) for the 2 nuts holding the rear section to the bumper (4:28 into the video). They aren’t too hard to get off, so I first did with a long screwdriver wedged into the socket but this is again risky as if the nut drops it gone! Overall, not a difficult process just rather tricky hanging onto the nuts. I used a little hot glue on reassembly to keep the nut on the socket. Good luck with your project!!
