newbie in need of some help!
hi all. i'm new to this site and to the mercedes benz world. i recently bought a 1997 c280 and i already have a problem 
i was driving a little while ago and started hearing a banging noise. when i popped the hood, i noticed the a pulley right behind the fan was wobbling. not sure what the pulley is for? it was the closest one to the top of the fan. i was able to make it home and havent moved it yet. i'm letting her cool down a bit. anyone know what the pulley is for and why it would come loose? i know the previous owner had the fan clutch changed recently. do i just simply tighten it back up or should i bring it to a tech? anyone know what size bolt it is and what torque it should be? do i need a special tool due to limited space? 
from what i saw it looks to be a ***** to reach with a socket wrench because of the fan and hoses. any help would be appreciated. in case u giys didnt already notice, i'm not very mechanically inclined

It sounds like the tensioner broke. This is a somewhat common problem when someone overtightens them. Happened to me once. In case you don't already know, the dealer is expensive on parts. I shop at www.bimmerzone.com for all mine. They are the cheapest on OEM parts.
