Big C280 Problem!!!!

Okay, I did a search on this and did not see the exact symptoms, but something similar. 97 C280 Sport. I went back to my office yesterday to do some more work, when I went outside to leave, I started the car and immediatley the ABS light and CEL came on. I proceeded to put it in Reverse and got a very hard jolt as it "kicked" in. Then, I put it in drive and got a very hard kick. I shut off the car, put it in W mode and it shifted into 2 okay, but went in to limp home mode. So, since I have to drive 55 miles. I called a flatbed and had it trailered home. Any ideas what this might be? I already found that it might be the ABS Speed Sensor, but what about the extremely hard shift into gear? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

It seems like everything is going wrong at once on this thing, it has 98k miles, but come on!

Can you get an OBDII reader on it and see what codes come up? That would
be my first action.

That is what I need to do, but I have to get it somewhere to do this. Or I have to get someone to it that has a reader.

Does anybody else have any ideas.
