central locking/ anti-theft problem

central locking/ anti-theft problem
I took my 1996 C36 in yesterday for oil change and spark plugs. When I got home I noticed the red light was on in the central locking system and I understand this light should blink when the alarm is armed. I have tried locking the car with remote and key and still the red light is always on even with key out of iginition and the doors locked or not locked. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Two suggestions,
Try locking, unlocking the car via the trunk. I know it sounds weird, but I had the same problem with my system.
If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the battery for a moment.

Matt H: Thanks for the info but I tried both and the light is still on. It really is frustrating. If you or any other member has a possible solution I'm willing to try. Thanks again for the recommendations.
