Question Anyone ever had the radio reception go out when rear defroster is on?

When I click the rear defrost, the radio (FM) reception is gone. All I hear is the shhhhhhh static noise. When I turn off the rear defrost, the reception
is clear. Does this sound like a ground issue? Also, I noticed the rear defrost
appears not to work - thought the dash light is lit.......

I noticed the same exact thing with my car approx like 2 weeks ago. It is really interesting it happens, i mean i figure mb engineers would realize that if you have the radio on and you have a rear defrost on at the same time, the frequency from the electicity would interfere with the radio reception... right? hopefully. Ill try to figure out what the problem could be, might even shoot off an e-mail to a local dealer or something.

I read on another forum to check the rear defrost fuse. I know it sounds strange
but what if the rear defrost circuit isn't complete. Would it act like an antenna, causing it to interfere with the radio? I'm checking mine later today.

Any progress on this? I just noticed that my 2001 is getting bad reception only when the rear defroster is switched on.
