vacuum noise Sticky Speedometer

Hi,
New to the thread and to owning a Mercedes. I just bought a '94 C280 with only 40k miles on it. Everything is great except for a weird vacuum noise that comes from the rear of the car. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it is intermittent. Does anyone have the same problem or a suggestion of what this is?
Also my speedometer sticks, is this a common problem and is there a quick fix?
Thanks in advance.
Jason

That noise you are hearing from the rear of the car is probably the vacuum pump. They keep cycling when there is a vacuum leak. Not good, they will eventually overheat and burn out. The pump in the trunk powers the central locking and climate control. Notice any issues with either?

The locks and climate control work great. The only thing I noticed was the cruise control simply doesn't work sometimes. Could this be part of the vacuum system?
