Hello, I just joined this forum and was hoping that someone here could refer me to a good independent Mercedes mechanic in the NYC/Westchester County area. I need to get some new shocks installed on my 1995 C220.
Thanks very much.

I agree, you don't need an indi MB mechanic for what you need done. but if you ever need the kind of mechanic you can depend on to change an engine (or build you a new one) with his eyes closed, just PM me with what you need done and I'll ask my mech. You can see if you click my sig pic and browse to the 'making of my C55' image folder, I did. He's in Freeport LI, so that might not be the most convenient tho. But if you need a -big- job done where you'd leave the car there for days, you couldn't find anyone much better.

I can tell you who NOT to bring your car to for repairs...
I can tell you who NOT to bring your car to....Independent Mercedes Benz of the Five Towns (in Inwood, Long Island NYC)
The problem with my car was misdiagnosed 5 times, and after over 20 irritating phone calls with conflicting info from Ari the owner, a weeks time, and $1,300...I was left feeling completely defeated and the car was returned to me...just to have the car break down again on the highway for the same reason 2 days later. When I brought the car back, he would not warranty the work, although he initially said that the dealer would warranty the part. The following day he retracted that offer, and again started the conflicting information and dozens of irritating phone calls, all while my car was sitting in his shop now in pieces. After faced with an additional $550 for the same repairs as performed less than a week prior, I decided to have the car removed and have since contacted the Dept. of Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, American Express, and have this matter resolved in small claims court. His tactics are to lure you into his shop with low estimates, and once he gets your car apart, hold it ransom for additional funds. Worse than that, he refuses to stand behind his work and loves statements like "I dont make the parts" when they fail.... although he does source them and sell them to you with a mark-up. Absoultely zero accountability. Would never reccommend.
